In this course, we will begin with the basic concepts of Yin poses and progress to a themed practice. This course will give you a full Yin yoga experience and equip you to incorporate Yin postures into your day-to-day life.
Yin yoga is a more relaxed, passive style of yoga that involves holding poses for longer durations and increasing your inner awareness. It provides a meditative stretching of the body that is cooling, grounding, and nurturing.
Each class runs for 90 minutes including both theory and practice. The course is suitable for both beginners and experienced yogis.
Curriculum
Week 1 : Yin practice 60 min plus a summary of the poses for a take away home practice * Overview of Yin practice including elements of its physicality, mentality and energetics.
Week 2 : Yin practice 60 min plus an explanation on the concept of Yin/Gunas and getting to know your body * Bodily insights inherent to Yin practice and derived from the intersection of Taoism and Yoga
Week 3 : Yin practice 60 min plus an exploration of the underlying mechanisms within yin practice * Expressing the Yang side of the practice spectrum including physical propping and mental adjustments
Week 4 : Yin practice 60 min plus a deeper dive into the heart-mind and energy aspects of yin practice * Going inside with meridian theory and meditation (sense withdrawal and focus) to connect with the Yin side of the practice
Week 5 : Full Yin practice, connecting to your spirit. 90 min *Upanishad quote "Understanding without practice is better than practice without understanding. Understanding with practice is better than understanding without practice. Resting in authentic nature is better than any understanding or practice."

Course - Runs as five 90-minute sessions on Sunday evenings
Dates - Starts 6:30pm on Sun 13 Mar 2022 for 5 weeks
Venue - Dharma Shala Wellness, 71 Glenayr Avenue North Bondi
Fees - $215 per person for the full course including Bonus access to recorded material.
